Our beautiful vintage china in The Flower Emporium

So proud to have a selection of our vintage china and props in the wonderful, local florist in Heaton Moor, The Flower Emporium.  Michael and the team there are running a ‘Mum, You’re Vintage to Me’ Mother’s day competition where local kiddies are encouraged to draw a picture of Mum and take it in.  The competition will be judged by a local artist and the Mums of the three winning artists will receive a Mother’s Day bouquet.  Sounds good to me – I’ve got the six year old on the case – would that be classed as insider dealings?!

See us at The Wedding Fete, Didsbury this weekend

A taste of the last fete...Excitement is building for one of our favourite events of the year this weekend.  We are honoured to join the region’s finest wedding industry talent at The Wedding Fete, which takes place on Sunday 2nd March 2014 at The Old Parsonage, on Stenner Lane in Didsbury, South Manchester.

Open to the public, with free entry from 11am to 4pm, the area’s leading wedding industry suppliers will once again be on hand to offer advice and expertise to couples – you could easily plan your whole wedding in just one afternoon here!

As well as showing off all our beautiful vintage crockery and props for hire plus our range of handmade wedding favours  (plus a few vintage bits and pieces to buy so bring your pennies), we will also be styling a pop-up afternoon tearoom where you can enjoy a cuppa and a slice of cake for £3.  A limited number of luxury gift bags will be provided on entrance so do hurry along and grab one before they go.

Some of the wonderful exhibitors include our good friend Melanie James Bridal Boutique, The Flower Lounge, Lynette Page Make Up, the friendly duo at Dotmoxee Photography and the wonderfully talented Black Ribbon Designs for all your stationery requirements.  Do check out their handmade, personalised oh-so-pretty wedding hangers too.  There’ll be plenty of tasting opportunities for guests, as chocolatiers Cocoa-Cabana showcase their recently-launched wedding cakes, handmade chocolates and truffles; Didsbury ( and our) favourite The Cheese Hamlet offers alternative cake ideas and suggestions for cheese lovers; and creative experts at The Cheshire Cat Cake Company who design bespoke cakes, will have a range of sensational treats to choose from.

There will also be live music by singer/songwriter Gaina Williams – all in all, it sounds like a wonderful afternoon to us!

We will also be taking a few envious glances at “Bruce”, a converted chauffeur driven VW camper van from Great White Occasions – our dream to own one of these one day!

The Parsonage Trust is an absolutely stunning find so if nothing else do take the chance to have a nosy around it on Sunday – we really hope to see you there!

Date for the diary…

Today we had a lovely wander to Beech Road in Chorlton (South Manchester for you non-locals), such a beautiful area.  We were off to see our friend Melanie James Bridal – an exquisite bridal shop which makes us gape in awe whenever we enter.  If you are still looking for your wedding dress and are yet to find the ‘one’ we would heartily recommend Melanie.  This talented lady currently designs all her range and hand-makes them with a small team of talented seamstresses (including her lovely Mum!).  Don’t be put off if you are not a bride-to-be- however as she also does a fine line in party dresses, handbags, accessories and the cutest little dresses for little girls – at really good prices for what are essentially unique pieces.

Our mission today was to talk about the event that Melanie is currently organising on the 7th December where she will welcome her first designer into her boutique – the fabulous Eliza Jane Howell, who also designs and manufactures in the UK (fairly rare in bridal dress attire apparently).  With our love of all things handmade, British and of course gorgeous we totally approve.  We are honoured to have been asked to help style the boutique window for the day – more about this event later but do make a note of the 7th December, 11am until 3pm at Melanie James Bridal, 109 Beech Road, Chorlton.  There will be a whole host of suppliers there with a vintage feel – cars, stationery, flowers, decorations, details, accessories, favours and a string quartet to boot.  We can’t wait!  Here’s a taster of Melanie’s boutique…MelanieJBEventDec13_0010
